[2024-feb-29] Sad news: Eric Layton aka Nocturnal Slacker aka vtel57 passed away on Feb 26th, shortly after hospitalization. He was one of our Wiki's most prominent admins. He will be missed.

Welcome to the Slackware Documentation Project

This is an old revision of the document!

No need for a style guide on docs.slackware.com. Just tell all folks: “Try to write like Eric” :-D

There seems to be a missing verb on the page: “(…) this Wiki article a much-enhanced version of one of these READMEs (…)”. I'll let you add “is” or “being” or “constitutes” as you prefer. Niki Sat Sep 15 09:13:54 CEST 2012

The HOWTO states that when using proprietary NVidia drivers, the user must install the 64-bit as well as the 32-bit version of the driver. I'm right now working on a Slackware64 desktop with the latest NVidia drivers. When installing the 64-bit driver (downloaded straight from NVidia), the installer offers to “Install NVIDIA's 32-bit compatibility OpenGL libraries? (yes/no)”. On the other hand, it's impossible to launch the stock 32-bit installer on Slackware64. It just complains about the driver being the wrong architecture for the system.
