The Xorg server shows as listening on port 6000, but remote connections are disallowed in /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config.by the line 'DisplayManager.requestPort: 0'. The X -nolisten TCP section should state that. It makes it appear that default Slackware is shipped with a security hole, which is not the case. — David Allen 2012/10/07 14:00

Done, I hope it is adequate. I looked up kdm and it is also disabled by default, so there is no real security hole. — Johaan Strojandogg 2012/10/09 02:48

Thanks for that. I get annoyed when the misperception is voiced by someone following a security checklist that default Slackware is vulnerable to this loophole. It is sound advice to add an additional layer of security. — David Allen 2012/10/09 05:42
