[2024-feb-29] Sad news: Eric Layton aka Nocturnal Slacker aka vtel57 passed away on Feb 26th, shortly after hospitalization. He was one of our Wiki's most prominent admins. He will be missed.

I am a long time GNU/Linux user (since around 2001-2). First distribution was (the legacy) Red Hat Linux 6.2 based distribution that came with a computer magazine. First serious distribution I used was Debian Sarge. My main distributions these days are Debian sid (primary use) and Slackware 64-bit CURRENT (for development/testing purposes).
